Today, kidney disease affects more than 26 million Americans and is the ninth-leading cause of death in the United States. According to the National Kidney Foundation, one in three Americans have an increased risk for kidney disease due to common health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of kidney failure.
